Papa!
The weekend of June 12, we also celebrated Father's Day with Papa! You'd think that we would learn to take the group photo right away, but of course no one thinks about it until it's time to leave and the kids are spent. Mayah wouldn't sit for the picture, which is why Amy's in the shot, though she still managed to hide behind her blanky; Ella was content as long as she had her cup; Katlyn had to be held back from running away (though this typical for Katlyn:); Kendon sat perfectly until it was actually time to take the picture, then he started to cry; and Nathan sat fine, but made it quite clear that he was not enjoying himself. Despite it all, it was great to have all the cousins together and celebrate Papa...he's very well loved!
1999.
The weekend of June 12 was one of celebration. We went back to De Smet to celebrate Old Settler's Day (the "birthday" for De Smet), my 10-year high school reunion (eeks...am I that old?), and of couse Matt and I's 5-year Anniversary! It never occurred to me to actually take a picture of Matt and I together without kids on our anniversary, so there are no pics-I'll have to be more intentional in the future. I didn't even take many pictures at the reunion, but I did take a picture when Nathan went off to sit by himself on the wall and eat his m&m bar. The reunion was hosted by my classmate's family, who have a gorgeous farm. Just being there made me feel like I was in an old novel or something. It was great to hang out with my high school friends, and I'm so grateful to have a group of friends that I've remained so close to throughout the years! Matt was grill master of the day (again, I should have been taking pictures), and he did a great job! Nathan and Ella got to play with some new friends-and hang out with cousin Mayah too!
Como Town!
A couple of weeks ago, ComoTown was offering free rides! We knew it would be crowded, but we also knew that Nathan and Ella would love it, and since it's so close we had to go!
Nathan loved the firetrucks...Ella was upset that she was too little to go on (Matt refused to escort her-he didn't think his 6' 4" frame would fit!
peek!
Look, I'm a fire fighter!
Matt did squeeze his frame into a teacup! He was the one who waited in line, so he insisted that he was going to be the one to ride (you could only have 3 per cup). It was hilarious though because they could barely turn the table due to Matt's legs and Nathan kept yelling because Matt's knees were squishing him!

Bolt!
About a month ago, Matt and Nathan met some friends at the baseball field across the street for an outdoor showing of the the Disney movie "Bolt". Nathan LOVED it, in his laugh-out-loud-from-the-gut sort of way. There was even one point during the movie when he pointed to his friend Asher and asked Matt, "why is he not laughing?". The past month has been filled with talk about "a movie called Bolt", which is always referred to as "a movie called Bolt". So, when cousin Mayah came for a visit, Nathan was very excited to show her "a movie called Bolt". We conceded and got Bolt from the library, made some popcorn, and called it a party. Everyone in attendance was delighted, and apparently Bolt is just as good the second time around:)
Here is Mayah, Ella, and Nathan...Nathan and Ella are not looking at the camera because they are of course watching, "a movie called Bolt"!
stats & ultrasound update.
On Wednesday, June 17, Ella had her 15-month appointment. She is growing and healthy and beautfiul, of course. She measures up at 31 inches tall (75th percentile) and 22 lbs 4 oz (50th percentile). We can never remember the actual circumference of her head, but it is still 85th percentile...big and brainy! She did have to receive some shots:( and for the first time seems to have had a minor reaction. She was very sleepy with a temp of 102.5, poor baby girl.
On June 8, we also got a chance to see #3. Everything with the 20 week ultrasound looked great, baby is growing and developing just as he or she should. Yes, it is still he or she, as we opted to not find out the gender again, though Nathan still insists that it is a girl:) The baby did however measure at 18 weeks instead of 20- but noone seemed concerned. Either baby is under the 50th percentile, or my due date may be altered. I'll find out at my next OB appointment. It was great to see baby since this pregnancy has been a little surreal, and I feel so blessed to have had 3 normal pregnancies with 3 healthy babies...Praise God!

Como Zoo with the Wipfs.
Sad little orangatan, just sat on his pole chewing on a straw...the kids enjoyed looking at him though.
Ella & Isaac are checking each other out!

Sprout it out!
Here's a quick garden update...not exactly cutting edge, but still interesting for us to watch. We doubted if anything at all would happen, so seeing little sprouts has been quite an encouragement. I should add that Matt has been very faithful to water the garden (he really deserves most of the credit). This week the goal is to weed, spread/thin out some of the plants, and figure out what to do with those darn squirrels!
Nathan has named this one as "his favorite flower
Matt doing the fore mentioned faithful watering...Nathan doing sidewalk chalk
cucumber sprout
tomatoes & basil
pea sprouts...the garden is also covered in "helicoptor seeds" from neighbor Betty's maple tree
green beans

How Deep...
We sang this beautiful hymn in church today. The lyrics help me to put my heart in the right place. No matter what challenges and uncertainties we face, may I always choose to praise God for His love and for the death and resurrection of Christ that has brought me life. I cannot give an answer why He has chosen to pay my ransom and die for me, but I know with all my heart that he has. I know my Father's love is beyond measure, and that my Father is taking care of us...
How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory
Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished
I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

Accessorize!
Ella LOVES accessories: shoes, necklaces, earrings, shoes, glasses, purses, and finally shoes! It's not uncommon for her to dig out a pair of heels from my closet or carry around anything as her purse...which is sort of funny since I very rarely carry a purse myself. Don't think she's all girly-girl though. The other night she also had to be stripped down because she was covered in mud from playing in the garden while Daddy was watering. She's not afraid to get dirty, and shows very little fear when doing anything. So, following is what you get with a naked (after before said mud-covered experience) baby who loves to accessorize. I love you Ella-you can't help you're so
wonderful!
Nathan also has to get in on any action that takes place. He loves to copy, even if it's copying his baby sister. So, once he saw Ella had a purse, he had to have one too! I think in this pic though
he's also trying to spit on her-just to demonstrate his "masculine-side".
