more zoo fun!

Continuing our day at the zoo...another highlight was the new-ish rhino exhibit. Here is Ella looking at Jubba, the male rhino. One of Mayah's first observations was that she could see his "boy part"...thanks Mayah:)

(I also love that she is wearing Nathan's old Mauer t-shirt...it was too little for him, but too beloved to go into a box.)

I did have a picture of momma and baby rhino here, but now it's gone, and since all rhinos look about the same, we'll do without.

Addie and Ella playing with the binoculars, though the thought to actually look at a rhinocerous with them never occurred to them.

Learning about rhinos. Amy learning how a rhino hears:)
Ella insisted on seeing the giraffes. Another amazing creature to just look at. Here's Addie with her friend the giraffe.

A group shot of the gang minus Micah. His 3-month self could not get excited about the zoo.

Addie is at such a fun age. She really took in all there was to see and do at the zoo, doing lots of pointing and talking...such a big girl! Even a group of mom's made mention of how cute and sweet she was (though I mainly think they liked her hat...thanks cousin Ericka!)

Everyone was super excited about the goats. We even payed the 50 cents (which I've never done) to get some feed for the goats. BUT, when it came to it,everyone chickened out and I ended up feeding the goats (hence no picutres).

At the end of the day, we asked "what was your favorite part of the zoo?" Everyone said, "the groundhog tunnel". It's funny what kids love...to me this was a bunch of concrete and a head injury waiting to happen, but we had to pull them away from here they were having so much fun!

zoo day; peacocks.

As I write this, it is mid-April, 35 degrees, and snowing (wait, raining, no wait, now it's snowing...), BUT 2 weeks ago when we went to the zoo it was 65 degrees and sunny. It was a glorious day and our first real amount of time outdoors this year (without snowpants and frozen noses). We were even able to meet Aunt Amy, Mayah, and Micah. The kids had a blast, and now that we have a season pass, we will return again (as soon as Spring makes up it's mind and decides to stay!)

We were all fascinated by this guy. He wasn't showing off for us, but a brood of peahens near by. Still so beautiful! Ella (who yelled at almost all the animals), yelled to this guy as we were leaving, "Bye Mr. Peacock. I think you're beatufiul. I like your feathers!"

Here's his more laid back friend. I love looking at their brilliant colors and the intricate details of their feathers. Such a display of our wonderful Creator!

Here's the kids watching and talking to the peacocks. Unfortunately I soon discovered afterwards that Addie is looking at her hand because she just stuck it in some goose poop.

Friday Funday:)

Last Friday was April 1st...April's Fool's Day! Since the kids are young, and I don't like pranks anyway, I made it Friday Fun Day! So, we made some silly cupcakes and watched Tangled, which also capped off "T" week for pre-school. Even Daddy came home for lunch for some extra fun...though by his face, I think you can tell that he may never come home again. Lunch time is usually a little hectic when all 5 are here!

They were proud of their creations!

Here are the silly cupcakes! If you want to see what they are suppose to look like, I got the idea from here...but this is what they look like when 3 and 4 year-olds make them!

Peas & Carrots.

Spaghetti!

Movie time! Popcorn snack and Tangled. Every song of course was a dance break. I tried to take a group shot...Micah would sit nicely on the couch (he didn't really have a choice I guess), but Addie and Mayah couldn't seem to leave him alone. Here he is behind Mayah. This one you can at least see him, but he should be a little nervous because Addie is on the move. She can't quite seem to figure out if she loves him or hates him, hopefully soon she'll mellow out about it!
(I should also add that for Friday Funday you get to wear whatever you want! Which is why Ella and Mayah and wearing "fancy" dreses...Addie chose a skirt with sparkles...and Nathan chose shorts and a t-shirt)
